Karen Platt - Today, Karen Platt will be sharing with us about following the Holy Spirit’s call on our lives.
Curtis Lillie - As a follow-up to looking at Caleb’s life last week, this week we will take a closer look at raising up a new generation in faith through spiritual parenthood.
Curtis Lillie - In this special service intended to highlight what God is at work doing in the lives of our young people, we as a God’s church must take seriously His call on all of our lives to be actively involved in raising up young men and women of faith. Looking at Caleb as a powerful example of life-long faith and trust in God, we find ourselves being challenged to keep fighting and winning for God, today! If a community only has one or two faithful witnesses to God’s goodness (the Israelites under Joshua and Caleb), they are bound to fall away and do “whatever is right in their eyes.” However, if a faith community is filled with many Caleb’s demonstrating and passing on real, authentic faith to its young, then we will see the kind of spiritual revival seen in the New Testament. May we claim at 85 years old, as Caleb did, to still be as strong today as we were 45 years ago, still fighting and still walking with God as he is victorious in our lives and in our world!
Rick Eastman - PENTECOST SUNDAY: What Does the Holy Spirit Do For Us?
Today is Pentecost Sunday. On this Sunday we recognize and celebrate God sending us the Holy Spirit to live in us and to empower us. We can see this happening in the 2nd chapter of Acts and the first four verses. Jesus promised that when he died and ascended to heaven he would send back to us His Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit was sent to help us during times of brokenness and weakness. Pastor Rick is going to share more about what the Holy Spirit does for us in his message today.
Leah Rush - Leah Rush just returned from an 8-month long internship in South Africa. She focused on relationship building as well as working with a local church. She will be returning to South Africa in June to continue her relationship with the church in Port Elizabeth.
Rick Eastman - Last week Pastor Curtis kicked off our Faith in Action series by sharing the challenge Jesus left Peter to "Feed My Sheep". This involves a willingness to "Follow Jesus" wherever he leads. Today, Pastor Rick will continue the series by getting us to "See People as God Sees People". It is difficult to serve others or show compassion to them without seeing them as God sees them. The experience of Peter and Cornelius in the 10th chapter of Acts is a good example of God taking the blinders off of Peter so he could see the God fearing non-Jew Cornelius in a new light. God broke down prejudice in this story in order to communicate the gospel to an entire household of people. Think about the people you have a difficult time understanding or showing compassion to. Perhaps even people you possess a prejudice toward. Let the Spirit of God break into your heart this morning and lead you to those people he wants you to minister to, even those who are most unlike you.
Curtis Lillie - Welcome to the first week of Faith in Action, where we struggle together through what it means to be people of true and genuine faith. The scriptures teach us that faith that is not embodied by tangible love and compassion in the world is not real faith at all, but merely empty talk. This week we will open our Faith in Action series with a look at God’s invitation to us to partner with Him in the miraculous. He is leading us out of our Holy Huddles on Sunday mornings to literally transform the world in miraculous ways. Will we respond when Christ calls us to “follow me!” or will we keep coming to church Sunday after Sunday pretending we are doing something called “Christianity,” when in fact we have just been missing it? In our text this morning, we see Jesus reminding us that our excuses are lame and that it is simply time for us to trust Him, follow his lead, and stop going to church, so that we can finally BE THE CHURCH.
Curtis Lillie - Shabbat – meaning “cease” or “stop” in Hebrew, was established as a fundamental practice for the people of God in the 10 Commandments. Yet, this practice which the Israelites were commanded to remember and observe has been by far the most misunderstood through the centuries. Jews and Christians alike have wondered what it means to “remember” or “observe” this unusual ceasing, that really has no parallel in any other culture or religion in the history of humanity. Today, we’ll try to unravel the Sabbath. How might we begin to practice Sabbath in such a way that God becomes the central figure in our lives? How might we live this special day in such a way that it is a blessing to us rather than a curse?
Rick Eastman - I want to welcome all of you to this special celebration. We are celebrating the reality of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ rising from the dead after he had been crucified. My sermon today will focus on the anticipation we, as the recipients of his sacrificial act of love, should be looking forward to when we get to heaven. We will gain many things in our heavenly destination but the greatest of these is to be in the presence of Jesus! Nothing comes close to comparing to that.
Rick Eastman - Randy Alcorn, author of Heaven reminds us, "We were made for a person and a place. Jesus is the person. Heaven is the place. And Jesus is the one building that place for us." As we look around and observe the beauty surrounding us now what a magnificent place Jesus must be preparing for us in Heaven. Today, pastor Rick is going to be sharing what the Bible tells us Heaven Will Be Like. Sit back and get ready to be "blown away"!
Rick Eastman - We could not go through a series on Heaven without addressing the events that lead to our entrance into our eternal home. Jesus was sharing with his disciples about the end times and they asked him, "... When will all of
this happen? What sign will signal your return and the end of the world?" Today we are going to be looking at a few key events signaling the end of the world as we know it.
Rick Eastman - Today, pastor Rick will begin a sermon series entitled "HEAVEN". Someone made the statement that the most effective followers of Christ are those who have a good knowledge of what Heaven is and what it is they are going to experience once they get there. That is the goal of this series. Today, we are going to address the question, "What Happens to Me After I Take My Last Breath?"
